Can Cats Eat Cheese? Sure they can, We, Zarathustra the Cat answer this very important question. Here is the evidence, the original version of the famous Dutch Still Life with Cheeses by Floris van Dijck painted in the 17th century:
The known version of the masterpiece is to be found at Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and at the museum site, you can explore the painting in detail. and imagine how tasty all this delicious food was. (By the way, in this museum one can find also the cloth covering this table.) Look how lonely are these cheeses without cats!
While working on the masterpiece, the painter was so concentrated that didn’t shut the door to his studio. The cheese odor was so strong that it called for a very large ginger cat from the dark. Another cat is arriving, blinking its eyes, eager to share delicious food. When Floris van Dijck made another brush stroke and returned from canvas to table, he caught such a scene:
