Venus in Furs
In 1651 Diego Velazquez finished his famous “Venus”, everybody knows her delightful back. But does anybody know the original version? Nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition at that time, now widely recognized due to Monty Python.
Inquisition members policed severely the drawing of a naked female body. Spanish genius found the solution, he knew that the Cat makes everything better. Here comes the original Venus:
As Leopold von Sacher-Masoch noticed later, Venus in her own furs feels much more comfortable and dominant. This feeling is very actual in today’s world, as We advise gently.
Venuses from all over the world, wear your own furs and be proud of it!
If you, unfortunately, have no fur, as, for example, humans and snakes do, please invent your own artificial fur. Use your knowledge and imagination, and never use other Venuses’ furs.
Or just get without it, as Venus in the commonly known version of the masterpiece did:
You may see it in the collection of the National Gallery, London. I was revealed to the world when the better times came but in the days of the Inquisition’s rule, the Cat hid and protected the painting, and saved it for you.
Thus speaks Zarathustra the Cat
